Limavady High School Presents Gracie’s Diary

In their first dramatic production since becoming a Specialist School for the Arts, Limavady High School are staging “Gracie’s Diary” by School Vice Principal David Dunlop.

“Gracie’s Diary” is a modern show, so modern that some of the action hasn’t even happened yet! (The plot ends in 2020!) Basically it is the story of six foreign workers from countries like Poland and Ukraine who find themselves working in a food factory in Coleraine in the summer of 2005. There they encounter some strange local folk who have various attitudes to the influx of migrant worker! The main themes are around interaction and misunderstanding between different cultural groups, not to mention some worrying examples of exploitation.

Director, Mrs Janet Loughery, is looking forward to the production. ” We have some very talented actors, none more so than Amy Nutt in the title role and Timmy Ferris as Peter Carson, a local Fellow who becomes closely involved with Ukrainian worker Gracianna Koschenko.

The show’s music draws on rock, rap, folk, a wee bit of classical, plus the obligatory love song. Former pupil, Rory Clements, has collaborated with David Dunlop in writing some lovely piano – based tunes.

This show promises to be quite an exciting adventure for all involved, cast, teachers and audiences, and tickets are already selling quickly.

The show opens on Thursday 14th Dec, continuing on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th in the School Hall. On Tuesday 19th the show is being staged in the Riverside Theatre, Coleraine, a first for Limavady High School. All performances begin at 7.30pm.
