Ready, steady, cook!

The GCSE Home Economics practical assessment was held in the last week of November ’09.

This entailed the Year 12 pupils making a complete meal starter, mains and dessert with all accompaniments.

Each of the students were assessed on the tables and outcomes/presentation, this included personal hygiene, food preparation, cooking and serving. All the products these had to be suitable for a vegetarian and included many skills.

Some examples are:-

Starters

  • Goats cheese tart
  • Wholesome vegetable soup (severed with home made wheaten bread)
  • Tomato and basil soup (severed with home made wheaten bread)

Mains

  • Vegetable curry
  • Tuna Steak bake

Desserts

  • Hot poached Pears and figs
  • Hot lemon soufflee
  • Fresh fruit salad
  • Swiss roll

The outcomes were presented with care and were of a very high standard. Well done everyone!
