A-Level Product design students are currently studying ‘Advertising and Marketing’. The Sinclair C5 is a text book example of poor marketing. This product was launched in 1984 as a electric and pedal powered vehicle with no market research. Sir Clive Sinclair had made millions with his new ‘executive calculator and pocket TV’. He spent 70 million on the C5 which was a failure for many reasons as we discovered. We decided to test its performance in our playground, pushing the C5 to its limit!
