Football4Peace – Buncrana Tournament

Limavady High School have been involved in the programme for 4 years now. We have been linked with 2 schools from Donegal, Moville Community High School and Scoil Mhuire Buncrana.

It’s been a worthwhile project and we have developed good links with our partner schools. Pupils have mixed very well and football has facilitated this in a very positive way. The programmes values promote responsibility, respect, inclusion and fair play. The pupils have taken these on and through the games and activities have learned how to apply these values.

Friendships have developed between the pupils, which have also developed through social network sites.

This is the first year that all groups involved in the programme have been brought together for a final ‘World Cup’ tournament. We believe it to be a very successful conclusion to the programme.

Pupils split into different national teams and they played a World Cup competition, with the values of the programme embraced. Pupils were challenged to referee themselves, manage situations and of course come up with a creative goal celebration.
