The End of an Era

Categories: Announcements

Last week was a poignant week for the staff and pupils of Limavady High as we said goodbye to our Principal, Mr David Dunlop.

A stalwart of the school for the past 39 years, this is a man who has contributed much to education in Limavady High and the surrounding Roe Valley. Furthermore, he is also renowned for writing the odd play or two and there is many a past pupil who has tread the boards for a ‘Dunlop’ original!

In honour of everything Mr Dunlop has done for this school the Board of Governors held a special meal to celebrate his achievements. This was also attended by the Senior Management team and included former Principal, Mr Glenn Reilly. Many memories were shared and discussed!

Pupils also showed their appreciation with a special assembly showcasing their music and dance skills. Not to be outdone the staff held a Victorian tea party organised by the Comfort Fund. Many speeches were given and all showed the impact Mr Dunlop has had on this school.

The final words were left to Mr Laverty and we echo those by wishing Mr and Mrs Dunlop a very happy and well deserved retirement.
