This competition, organised by the Consumer Studies department of the University of Ulster, was based on The Apprentice television programme. It gave pupils a feel for business, entrepreneurship, creativity, time management and working under pressure.
Pupils from St Mary’s High School and from Limavady High School are taking part in a North East PEACE III Limavady Community Cohesion Project, designed by School Employer Connections in conjunction with Business in the Community.
Students at Limavady High School were keen to get their employability skills up to scratch participating in a GIS workshop facilitated by the University of Ulster Coleraine. Year 10 Geography students carried out research on sites across Northern Ireland using up to date GIS technology.
200 past pupils, past and present parents and friends of Limavady High school attended a Blue Lamp Disco at Limavady Football Club. The night was organised by Limavady High school forum and over £1,000 was raised.
On Tuesday 23 April a group of twenty seven Year 12 pupils from Limavady High school visited Little Treasures Day Nursery where they were welcomed warmly by all the staff.
AS Performing arts, GCSE Drama and Media studies pupils from Limavady High School enjoyed an Artskills, Creative Industries workshops at the Playhouse in Londonderry.
Local man Alastair McFarland from Limavady has been presented with a Long Service Certificate by HRH The Earl of Wessex at a special event in Hillsborough Castle. Alastair has been a dedicated DofE Co-ordinator, Leader, Volunteer and DofE Assessor for over 25 years since achieving his own Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
To celebrate the 400th Anniversary of Limavady Mr George Dallas, a history teacher at Limavady High School put together an exhibition of early photographs from the past 100 years of the town’s history.
