in a range of tournaments both within the school and externally.
We offer a range of team and individual sports including:

Our Under 12 XI won their League Section in 2005 and finished as runners
up overall after taking part in the league play off.

We have 5 Rugby teams who play in various tournaments such as the Mediallion

Andrew Moore, was selected for the County Londonderry Under 16 team
last season.
Cricket:
2004/5 was a successful season for our junior cricket teams. Our Under

last season and then went on to become joint winners of the Slemish
Cup at Under 13 level.
Damien Carlin was selected for the North West Under 14 XI. Craig
Averill played for the North West Under 15 XI and the Ulster Schools
Under 15s. Mark Averill was selected for the North West, Ulster Schools
and Ireland at Under 15 level.
Athletics:
Last year a group of girls took part in the County Sports winning 15
medals in all - 5 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze. Overall the Senior
girls finshed as runners up.
Dance:
The years 8 & 9 girls were also successful in the Creative Dance section
of the Causeway Open Championships back in March. They won the 10-12
age group and gold medals.
The school has four houses named after local historical figures. These
houses regularly compete for various trophies throughout the year.
They are:
ALEXANDER
S.M. Alexander was a public-spirited gentleman who came from a well-to-do
family. He contributed generously to local public buildings. The Town
Hall and the Alexander Arms Hotel in Main Street commemorate the family
name.
MASSEY
William Ferguson Massey, who was born in Irish Green Street in 1856,
became Prime Minister of New Zealand in 1912. The site of his home
is commemorated by a plaque erected in Irish Green Street, which also
states that he remained Prime Minister until 1925.
PHILLIPS
Sir Thomas Phillips was granted a charter from James I to develop the ‘horsepond’ of
Limavady in 1613. Phillips brought 25 families from England to settle
in the new town of NEWTOWN LIMAVADY. The original town had been in what
is now the Deerpark area.
ROSS
In 1851 Miss Jane Ross wrote down the tune of the ‘Londonderry
Air’ or ‘Danny Boy’ as it is also called. A wandering
fiddler, called John McCormic is credited with having played the tune
for her. A plaque in Main Street marks Miss Ross’s home.
