Geography at Limavady High is a dynamic, engaging and relevant subject where students have access to a modern curriculum that develops a wide range of transferrable skills. Our aim is to future proof our young people; to provide them with skills that will make them more employable.
Geography creates a sense of wonder about places and allows students to solve problems on current issues. Students can collect, record and analyse information, work independently or as part of a team and they can justify conclusions.
The Department offers a range of fieldwork trips to places like the Titanic Quarter and Magilligan Field Centre. These experiences allow students to experience Geography in the field, develop their understanding and fieldwork skills, and ultimately make the pupils more aware of the world in which they live.
All students study Geography in years 8, 9 and 10, and then there is the option of a further two years study at GCSE level where the school follows the CCEA specification.
